Congratulations to the 9 schools who submitted entries into the 'On
with the show, this is IT" competition at the Mount Gambier Show in
2003. There was a total of 177 entries into the three competition
categories of Web Construction, Computer Graphics and Presentations.
Students from years 1 through to 12 entered. There were that many entries
into the years R-5 Presentations category that we had to allocate two
computers to show these to the public. This is a brilliant effort
considering the necessarily short timeline that we all had to work with
this year - something that we are able to fix for 2004.
While speaking to members of the public it was great to be able to
point out the presentations made by some of our regions lower primary
grades. Many commented that they found it difficult to use a computer,
even turn it on and where extremely impressed with what 'the kids' could
do. Many also praised their teachers, realizing that they had to learn
these skills so that they could help the students. They were quite
consistent in saying that "IT is the way of the future". So well
done teachers and students.
